Irene Papanicolas Ph.D.
Director of the Center for Health System Sustainability, Professor of Health Services, Policy and PracticeIrene is a Professor of Health Services Policy and Practice at the Brown School of Public Health. Prior to joining Brown, Irene was a faculty member at the London School of Economics. She also holds visiting research appointments at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and the European Observatory of Health Systems and Policy. Irene’s research is focused on assessing the performance of health systems and furthering the use of health system comparisons to draw insights for national policy makers. Her work has informed performance measurement and health system comparative efforts of national and international bodies such as the WHO, OECD, and the European Commission. Irene leads the International Collaborative on Costs, Outcomes and Needs in Care (ICCONIC), which has received funding from the Commonwealth Fund and the Health Foundation.
