    Research Profile

    Clas Rehnberg works as a full time professor and research leader for the Health Economics and Policy research group at Karolinska Institutet, Stockhom. He is a senior health economist specialized in the economics of health care financing and organization. Besides various publications in the field of health care financing and organization he has worked as a consultant for the Swedish Ministry of Finance, regional health authorities, and several international institutions. He was part of a group of experts analyzing models for changes in the funding and organization of the Swedish health care system on behalf of the Cabinet-appointed, parliamentary committee (HSU-2000). He has a long teaching experience and is also serving as Program Director for the Executive Management Program for Senior Physicians at the Stockholm School of Economics. From 2000-2003 he held a position as Visiting Professor at the Health Economics Unit, Dep of Public Health, University of Cape Town, South Africa. He has been involved in analyses of the reforms of the health care system focusing on the use of internal market mechanisms and the changes in the reimbursement systems. More recently he has been the principal investigator in several international projects as part of the Nordic collaboration (NHCSG) analyzing productivity in the hospital sector and EU-supported projects (EuroHOPE) aimed at evaluating the performance of European health care systems in terms of outcomes, quality and use of resources, as well as BRIDGE Health.
